Fit the bridge to your mower

The LuLuMate Bridge rides on your mower. It takes its power from the mower's USB port or, where we don't know of one yet, from a small USB power bank. This page shows where the port is on the models we know, which cable fits, and how to tell that the bridge is working.

The USB port on the YUKA mini

YUKA mini. Sizes: 500, 600, 700, 800.

Our drawing of a YUKA mini from above, front at the top. A ring marks the middle of the front edge, where the USB socket is under the top cover.
Our own drawing, seen from above.
We have not confirmed yet that this socket powers the bridge, or that the small cover closes over a cable. If it doesn't work out, use a small USB power bank instead (see below).

Where it is

At the front, not the back. Lift the top cover off. Just below the camera, above the front bumper, is a small cover held by two screws. The USB socket is in the pocket behind it.

Its cover

Two covers. The top cover lifts off by hand. The small one needs a screwdriver.

The socket and the cable

The socket is USB-A (the big flat socket). A short USB-A to USB-C cable: the big flat plug goes in the mower and the small one in the board.

This socket is made for Mammotion's 4G module, which is a USB stick. If your mower has one fitted, it is using the socket. LuLuMate's camera needs the mower's own internet (its Wi-Fi or that 4G module), so think twice before taking the module out.

Connect the bridge to your YUKA mini

The cable only carries power. The bridge talks to your mower over Bluetooth, and to LuLuMate over your Wi-Fi.

  1. Do the first two set-up steps indoors. Install the bridge on the board and join it to your Wi-Fi before you take it outside.
  2. Clip the antenna on. The XIAO ESP32-S3 comes with a small antenna on a thin lead. Hold its tiny round plug over the round gold socket at the corner of the board. Put one side in first, then press gently on the other side until it sits flat. Never pull it off by the lead. (A board with its antenna built in, like the SuperMini, has nothing to clip.)
  3. Switch your mower on. On its dock is fine.
  4. Plug it in. One end of the cable goes in the mower's USB port (or in your power bank), the other in the board. A short USB-A to USB-C cable: the big flat plug goes in the mower and the small one in the board. Push both plugs fully home: the board's socket is small and stiff.
  5. Tuck the board away. It is not waterproof. Put it somewhere dry, fixed firmly so it can't fall off or get caught, and well clear of the blades and the wheels. Your Wi-Fi still has to reach it, so lay the antenna flat and out in the open if you can.
  6. Look at the light on the board. It tells you how the bridge is doing: see “What the light shows” below.
  7. Check it on this site. On your mower's set-up page, step 3 ticks Bridge on your Wi-Fi and Mower found over Bluetooth by itself, usually within a minute. Under My mowers your mower then shows Online, with when the bridge was last seen.

What the light shows

  • SteadyAll is well. The bridge is linked to LuLuMate and connected to your mower.
  • Blinking fastThe bridge is on your Wi-Fi and linked to LuLuMate, but not connected to the mower just now. That is normal when nobody is using the mower. It is also what you see when the bridge can't find the mower. If set-up step 3 does not tick Mower found over Bluetooth, see “It doesn't find the mower”.
  • Blinking slowly (one second on, one second off)No link to LuLuMate. The bridge isn't on your Wi-Fi, or your internet is down.
  • Two quick flashes, then a pauseThe board isn't set up. Install it again from your mower's set-up page.
  • No light at allNo power. Push both plugs fully home, check the mower is switched on, or try another cable. (Boards set up as “Other” have no light.)

On the XIAO ESP32-S3 it is a small orange light beside the USB-C socket. On the SuperMini it is a dim green one.

The XIAO also has a second small light, a red one. It is its battery charge light: it comes on for about 30 seconds when you plug the board in, then goes out. Ignore it.

If it doesn't come online

  • No light? The board has no power. Check both plugs and that the mower is switched on. Try another cable.
  • Slow blink? It can't reach your Wi-Fi from there. Bring the mower nearer the house to test. The bridge needs the ordinary 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi; a Wi-Fi extender nearer the lawn usually fixes a weak signal.
  • It doesn't find the mower? Close the Mammotion app on your phone for a minute: the mower talks to one Bluetooth device at a time. Check the mower is on, and that its Bluetooth name on this site matches exactly.
  • Still stuck? Unplug the board, plug it back in and wait 20 seconds. You can also install it again from the set-up page at any time.
  • New Wi-Fi name or password? With the board running, hold its BOOT button for 5 seconds. It forgets the old Wi-Fi and starts its set-up network again.

Ask us for help

No USB port, or no power from it?

A small USB power bank fixed on the mower powers the board just as well. One LuLuMate owner runs their bridge this way. You will need to recharge it. Some power banks switch themselves off when very little power is drawn: if the bridge keeps dropping out, try one with an “always on” or low-current setting.

Please don't

  • Don't wire the board to the mower's battery. On our own mower that made the mower stop its jobs with a false “cutting disc jammed” error.
  • Don't use a pressure washer on the mower, and switch the mower off before you turn it over. Those are Mammotion's own rules.
